Playing NoxiousOT in your browser
The game runs in a browser tab. A few settings make it feel like the downloaded client: a full screen, its own window, and a game that keeps running when you look at another tab.
Fullscreen
- Click Fullscreen on the login window, or press Ctrl+F or Alt+Enter at any time (Options → Graphics → Fullscreen does the same).
- In fullscreen, browser shortcuts such as Ctrl+W, Ctrl+T, Ctrl+N and Esc go to the game instead of closing or opening tabs (Chrome, Edge, Opera; Firefox 151 or newer). In a normal window the browser keeps them, so the game's defaults for "clear texts" and "show names" are Alt+W and Alt+N.
- To leave fullscreen, hold Esc for about 2 seconds, or press Ctrl+F again.
- If you left the game in fullscreen, it goes back to fullscreen at your first click after the page opens (a browser only allows fullscreen after a click or a key press).
Install it as an app
An installed game opens in its own window, without tabs or an address bar, and gets its own icon on the desktop, the Start menu or the taskbar. You cannot close it by accident with a shortcut meant for another tab.
- Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave: the install icon at the right end of the address bar, or the browser menu → Cast, save and share → Install page as app (Chrome) / Apps → Install this site as an app (Edge).
- Safari on a Mac: File → Add to Dock.
- iPhone and iPad: the Share button → Add to Home Screen. Safari deletes the saved settings of a website you have not opened for 7 days; an app added to the Home Screen keeps them.
- Firefox: pin the tab instead (right-click the tab → Pin Tab).
The app is the same game: same account, same settings. Updates arrive by themselves the next time you open it.
Keep the game running in the background
The game keeps playing (connection, healing, bot macros) while its tab is in the background or the window is minimised. Browsers save energy with tabs you are not looking at, so:
- Pin the tab (right-click the tab → Pin), or install the app (above). Browsers unload pinned tabs and apps last.
- Chrome: Settings → Performance → Always keep these sites active → Add this site. Otherwise Memory Saver may unload the tab, which logs your character out.
- Edge: Settings → System and performance → Never put these sites to sleep → Add this site.
- Energy Saver (Chrome, on battery) limits a page to 30 frames per second. Plug in, or turn it off under Settings → Performance, for the full frame rate.
- For the best frame rate keep the game window in front: a covered window may draw less often.
Closing the game
- While a character is online, closing or reloading the tab asks Leave site? first. Log out in the game to close without the question.
- F5 and Ctrl+R are game hotkeys here; they never reload the page.
Your settings
- Settings, hotkeys, action bars and bot configs are saved in this browser, for this site. They are not shared with other browsers or computers by themselves, and a private window forgets them when it closes. To use a character's settings in another browser or on another device, use Restore config on the character list (shown when the connection supports it).
- Clearing this site's data (or all browsing data) in the browser deletes them.
- To keep a copy or move to another browser or device: on the character list, Export settings saves a character's settings as a file and Import settings loads it again. Do this now and then if you play on Safari or an iPhone (see the Home Screen note above).
- Something looks broken after changing a setting? Reset settings on the login window starts over with the default settings (it asks first). The game data downloaded so far is kept.
- Your password is never saved; only the last account name you typed is filled in.
- To keep a chat log, right-click the chat tab → Save Messages: the browser downloads it as a text file.
